What is the policy for receiving differential pay for hazardous working conditions?
General Schedule employees are entitled to a hazardous duty pay differential for duty involving unusual physical hardship or hazard, and for any hardship or hazard related to asbestos that have not already been accounted for in the job classification. Pay differentials for these types of assignments range up to 25 percent, with the majority being set at 25 percent.

Wage system employees are entitled to environmental differentials for similar circumstances. The differential is equal to the percentage rate approved for the particular job category, multiplied by the rate of pay for WG-10, step 2 for the appropriated fund employees and the rate of pay for NA-10, Step 2 for the non-appropriated employees.
