What issues regarding children should be resolved in estate planning?

If you have children, it is especially important to have an estate plan. In particular, some considerations for children should be in place in case both parents die. You should address who will physically care for the children, how will the children be supported and—in case property is left to the children—who will manage the property if the children are younger that the age of majority (18 in most states).
