If my position is in a union bargaining unit, do I have to pay dues to the union?
That decision is voluntary.

If you choose to become a dues-paying member, you can pay them either directly to the union or through payroll withholding.

A union must represent all bargaining unit members equally, regardless of their union membership. However, they treat dues-paying members preferentially for certain other purposes, such as discounts on goods and services.
