When does my duty station change?

If you are reassigned (temporarily or permanently) to a new work location and receive relocation benefits for moving to the new work location, your new location becomes your official duty station and you receive the compensation applicable to that location. If that involves a pay reduction (such as moving at the same pay and grade to a locality with a lower locality pay rate) you are not entitled to pay retention.

If you are temporarily detailed to a position in a different duty station or in a temporary duty travel status (receiving temporary duty travel allowances, such as per diem), your official duty station remains the location of the permanent worksite.
