What are the different types of promotions?
A promotion is a change to a higher grade separate from within-grade increases or quality step increases, which provide salary increases within the scheduled rates of the grade. The two main types are merit promotions and position reclassification due to work assignments that change the level of difficulty, responsibility or qualification requirements of positions.
