What do FEGLI options cover and what do they cost?

If you are covered under Basic you may buy:

Option A, an additional $10,000 of coverage.
Option B, additional coverage of one, two, three, four, or five times annual basic pay that was rounded to the next $1,000.
Option C, coverage of up to five multiples of $5,000 for a spouse and up to five multiples of $2,500 for each eligible child.

Costs vary according to your age and the amount of coverage; a salary increase may trigger a corresponding increase in coverage and premiums under Basic and Option C. See Chapter 2, Section 2 of the Federal Employees Almanac.

Note: Unless you’ve assigned it to someone else, you may discontinue your Basic or optional insurance coverage at any time. Optional insurance stops automatically if you discontinue Basic insurance.
