The FEDVIP program provides vision and dental care and services separate from the limited offerings available in those areas through the Federal Employees Health Benefits program. Eligible individuals can enroll in dental care, vision care or both.
In general, employees and family members eligible for FEHB are eligible for FEDVIP. However, eligible children generally can remain covered under FEDVIP only until age 22, rather than until age 26 in FEHB. Further, to be eligible under FEDVIP, children must be unmarried and dependent on the enrollee.
Also, former spouses are not eligible under FEDVIP, even if they are receiving an apportionment of an annuity that entitles them to FEHB coverage.
