What benefits are available to domestic partners?
Under a series of White House memos and other guidance, same-sex (but not opposite-sex) domestic partners who meet certain standards are eligible for benefits including: child care services and subsidies, employee assistance programs, certain noncompetitive appointments when returning with an employee from an overseas assignment, evacuation payments, unpaid leave for family purposes, consideration for excused absence for certain family obligations, presumption of eligibility for insurable interest annuities, and eligibility as family members for certain travel and relocation payments.
