OPM begins full electronic funding campaign for Texas feds

Federal employees living in Texas who were affected by the recent severe winter storm that left millions without power and caused multiple deaths now have some extra support from the federal government.

Acting Office of Personnel Management Director Kathleen McGettigan has announced a special solicitation from the Combined Federal Campaign that allows feds to donate to more than 6,000 charities in the Houston, Dallas and San Antonio and surrounding areas working in response to storm’s aftermath.

“Through this CFC special solicitation, you can join OPM in encouraging federal, postal, military personnel, and retirees to provide emergency assistance that will contribute toward the ability of charities to help the people that rely upon them in our communities,” McGettigan wrote in the memo, adding, “Implementing another almost 100 percent electronic campaign will leverage the current telework environment, and will minimize costs, paperwork, and other infrastructure needs.”

The solicitation will run until April 9. Employees who did not participate through payroll allotments during last year’s campaign can make a payroll-funded gift during the special solicitation. Those who already made their payroll allotments for 2021 can make additional donations through credit and debit card.
