Federal employees who have contact with the public in their jobs or who are returning to their workplaces with fellow employees can get, on request, free washable cloth masks to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund is providing the masks to all eligible feds --- just sign up here.
Supply remains a possible issue, but the fund is soldiering on. “Due to the limited availability of masks, FEEA is giving priority to requests from federal employees who are at increased risk of exposure due to their job duties or work location,” FEEA said in a release.
FEEA, joined by its partner the National Treasury Employees Union, also co-administers the NTEU-FEEA Disaster Fund, which provides monetary help. The fund gives “financial assistance to federal employees who have been directly impacted by the coronavirus,” the release noted. “Immediate family members of employees at NTEU-represented agencies who have died from coronavirus may apply for a $1,000 grant to help cover funeral expenses.”
The grants are available for feds who are either sick at home with COVID-19 and unable to work, hospitalized with the virus or forced to stay home to look after a family member afflicted by it. Feds can apply for financial assistance here.
