Bill that aims to correct VA pay cap passes Senate

The Senate recently passed a measure that will create a fix to a law that erroneously capped the pay for Senior Executive Service workers at the Veterans Health Administration.

The “Competitive Pay for Leaders in Veterans Health Care Act” (S. 3084) excludes SES-Equivalent positions from a Level V pay cap, putting their salary in line with the intent of a 2010 law that allowed these “employees to be paid competitively,” a news release on the bill states, adding, “Without this change, VA would need to collect the higher payment amount back from current and past employees and would face significant challenges hiring qualified healthcare leaders.”

U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.)members of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee introduced the legislating late last year.

“This bipartisan legislation will ensure that VA is able to recruit and retain individuals who help the Veterans Health Administration provide high-quality care and services to our nation’s veterans,” Tester said about the bill.

It will now go the House.

There Are A Few Exceptions To The Well Known Fact That VA Clinics/Hospitals Are Always Supplied With Inefficient, Unqualified, Unaccountable, Unethical, Narcissistic, Pill Pushers With Systemic Superiority. So, The Way Washington Is Going To "Fix" The Monumental "Duty Of Care" Crisis, Is To Pay These People More Money? Haven't Our Veterans Been Through Enough? It'd Be Smarter, To Create A Fund To Cover The Inevitable Lawsuits That Will Undoubtedly Arise Should This Inhumane Treatment Continue. But, Good Luck With...Yeah.

I agree with the other comments. VA's senior management hasn't done a job worthy of the salaries they currently receive.

Morale at the VA is at all time low. Many openings and few candidates even consider to apply. The management there is corrupt, back stabbing and cover each other's corrupt backs by granting large bonuses for doing absolutely nothing for the patrons they are supposed to assist and serve. One method to change this is to down size all management positions, examine the track records of every single manager and rout out the defective corrupts ones in an efficient and timely manner. There is absolutely no need to increase management's salaries.

Why eliminate the pay cap for the inept deficient managers at the VA. They are overpaid and underworked. The only work they do is cheating on annual leave, raking in big bonuses and stabbing effective employees in the back.
