No family leave for feds at TSA, FAA

Most of the federal government’s employees are slated to benefit from the newly announced 12 weeks of family leave.

Yet, as a new report in GovExec discusses, tens of thousands of feds at the Transportation Security Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration and other parts of the government remain not eligible for the new policy. Only Title 5 feds are covered under the new provision, signed near year’s end by President Trump.

Lawmakers in Congress, led by some Democrats, are pushing to expand the law to cover those feds that are currently excluded—yet it remains to be seen if they will gather the necessary interest and assent on Capitol Hill and the White House.
