Union welcomes supplemental CBP funding

The National Treasury Employees Union announced its satisfaction that the emergency funding bill for Customs and Border Protection has passed both houses of Congress and currently awaits only the president's signature.

The bill includes $45 million for overtime and travel expenses for the summer months at the agency's Office of Field Operations.

When signed, the bill will provide funding for CBP officers who are assigned to temporary duty along the U.S.-Mexico border and will help pay for continuing operations at their home ports.

"NTEU commends Congress for supporting emergency funding for CBP Officer operations for the remainder of the year," the union said in a press release.

We can hope that with more help on the borders that border patrol will make fewer terrible decisions on how to treat people at the southern border.
