Federal Benefits Q&A

Question:  I am a FERS disability annuitant. We declined the spousal survivor benefit election when I was approved 15 years ago. Assuming I remain eligible and continue receiving benefits until my disability benefit converts to a regular retirement benefit, can we elect the survivor benefit at that point?

Answer: The answer is most probably no because you declined the survivor annuity benefit more than two years ago.
