In a letter to the head of the Office of Personnel Management, National Treasury Employees Union President Anthony Reardon asked that the 2019 federal pay raise be published and implemented as soon as possible.
A last-minute spending deal that passed on Feb. 15 included a provision for a 1.9 percent pay raise for federal employees. President Trump signed the bill.
More than a month later, Reardon contends that it is time to implement the raise.
“As employees continue to struggle with the lasting impacts of the 35-day government shutdown as well as increased costs of living, it is imperative that the pay increase be implemented as soon as possible,” Reardon wrote in the letter to Acting OPM Director Margaret Weichert.
Reardon asked Weichert for an update, at minimum, on when federal employees can expect the pay tables to be issued and when they might receive the approved pay increase.
