The maximum buyout for federal employees to leave government service has not increased since it was first authorized in 2002, and Senate lawmakers are trying to change that, Federal Times reports.
Senate lawmakers have proposed a section of the fiscal year 2019 National Defense Authorization Act that would raise the caps on buyouts for feds who choose to voluntarily resign or retire early from an agency from no more than $25,000 to $40,000, according to the article.
Last year’s NDAA included a similar provision that did not survive the negotiation process, the report notes, adding that the House version of the NDAA does not include the provision.
