Feds prohibited from traveling to Mexican resort

The federal government has banned federal employees from visiting a popular Mexican beach resort because of safety concerns, Reuters reports.

The. U.S. government issued a travel ban for Playa del Carmen, Mexico last week for federal employees, after an explosion on a ferry docked at a Playa del Carmen pier injured several U.S. citizens last month.

Although the ban only applies to government employees, the U.S. Embassy said Americans should consider the security threat, which it did not specify, before traveling to the area, the article notes.
