A federal grand jury indicted a former Department of Veterans Affairs official on charges with a scheme to steal benefits for veterans.

According to a Department of Justice press release, Russell Ware of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, between September 2013 and May 2014, devised a scheme to steal more than $21,000 in VA disability benefit money that he had wired to his own bank account. In these types of fraud case the penalty should include a cash fine equal to Three Times more money than was stolen __ in addition to some jail time. This person wanted to "Take from others' so we should Take everything he owns from him as the penalty.
