Dems stop short of threatening a shutdown over ACA cuts

Some Democrats have put the threat of a government shutdown back on the table over issues with President Trump’s recent action with the Affordable Care Act funding, Government Executive reports.
Last week, Trump cut roughly $7 billion in payments the federal government has provided to health insurance companies to offset the cost of covering low-income customers, and some Democrats are so against the action that have said the payments must be reinstated in order for their caucus to approve the next round of appropriations, according to the report.
However, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said while she prefers for the House to move quickly on reinstating subsidies, there really is no risk for a government shutdown because the Democrats don’t have the majority, the article notes.
