Report: Trump supports privatizing air traffic control

President Donald Trump supports the idea of moving air traffic control operations to a private non-profit organization, Federal Times reports.

Top airline executives at a White House meeting last week urged the president to shift operations from the  Federal Aviation Administration, citing the agency’s delay in modernizing their traffic systems, according to the report.

Most countries do separate air traffic control operations from their aviation safety oversight agency but it is not typical to completely privatize air traffic operation, the report notes, adding that previous legislation has stalled because of opposition from several lawmakers and business aircraft operators.
