DHS headquarters in Iowa?

As part of Rep. Jason Chaffetz’s (R-Utah) sweeping changes to the federal workforce under the new administration, he has suggested moving the Department of Homeland Security to Middle America, Government Executive reports.

According to the article, Chaffetz , who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said that agencies should consider moving agencies outside of Washington and specifically mentioned that Des Moines, Iowa might be a better home for DHS headquarters.

He claims the move would save the federal government a significant amount of money, the article notes.
