OPM reduces claims backlog in December

The Office of Personnel Management last month has reduced its retirement claims backlog.

OPM logged 5,483 new claims last month and processed 6,405 claims, an 11 percent increase in claims compared to November.

It took an average of 52 days to process a case in 60 days or less. Forty nine percent of total cases were processed in 60 days or less.

The new figures came from OPM’s monthly claims processing progress report

I have been looking for numbers on OPM retirement processing times and was wondering if the report includes disability retirement requests? It would be nice to have an estimated range of processing times. What is the shortest and longest number of days to process each type of retirement requests. Averages are always nice. Great work processing request in 2016
