House passes Secret Service overtime bill

The House passed a bill allowing Secret Service agents to receive additional overtime premium pay.

Agents are subject to a statutory cap on their biweekly pay, so agents were not compensated for overtime hours worked during the presidential campaign that would have resulted in compensation above the cap during any pay period/

The Overtime Pay for Secret Service Agents Act (H.R. 6302) is aimed at compensating agents who worked those record numbers of hours during the presidential election season—but who did not receive pay due to the cap.

The bill limits the pay to the 2016 presidential election year.
