Legislators propose security employees rotate through federal agencies

Lawmakers introduced legislation to have select national and homeland security employees rotate through different assignments to increase interagency cooperation and expertise, reports Government Executive.

The Interagency Personnel Rotation Act of 2011 would create the Committee on National Security Personnel to identify which security employees would be eligible for rotational positions. Engineering, information technology and cybersecurity employees would be eligible, while administrative and technical positions would not.

The legislation was introduced on June 23 in the Senate by Sen. Joe Lieberman, I Conn., and in the House by Reps. Geoff Davis, R-Ky., and John Tierney, D-Mass.
