A new poll finds most people in the U.S. are in support of White House orders and other mandates requiring vaccines and masking, to slow the COVID-19 pandemic.
The survey—from Fox and released Sept. 19—shows about three-fourths of Americans are either “extremely” or “very” concerned about the COVID epidemic, whose toll and pace of hospitalizations and deaths have all increased in recent months. The Fox poll was written up in a Fox News story published this weekend.
Approximately two-thirds of those surveyed now favor vaccine and masking as tools to combat the disease, according to the same poll. And solid majorities are in favor of legal mandates requiring people to use them in public spaces.
The poll was conducted since the White House issued much more stringent COVID-19 mandates for federal government employees and contractors, and also since it ordered the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to follow up with a sturdy mandate for vaccination to protect workers at companies employing 100 or more in the private sector.
