The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association indicated the group was ready and hopeful to pursue work on goals and issues important to federal employees with the new Congress and presidential administration.
“On January 3, members of the 117th Congress were sworn in, and the new Congress began. The new session includes dozens of freshman lawmakers, new committee assignments and deliberation on numerous hot button issues, such as future COVID-19 relief legislation,” the group said in a statement. “NARFE’s advocacy team is preparing to advance the association’s ongoing legislative priorities in the new year.”
Some major employee unions also outlined their aims and intentions for the new Congress and White House—with detailed, forward-looking end-of-year statements listing accomplishments and goals available online, for example, from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE).
