OPM processed more retirement claims by end of the summer

The Office of Personnel Management processed more retirement claims in August than July, and also lowered its backlog inventory.
The agency’s backlog stood at 18,423 at the end of July, and fell to 17,576 in August.
It received 8,000 claims in July, and went up to 8,878 in August. OPM also processed 8,088 claims July, but processed more in August at 9,715.
OPM took an average of 50 days to process claims in August, down from 55 days in July.
