White House hammers away at federal unions

The White House continues to try to undermine the very foundations of federal employee unions and their capacity to operate and advocate for their members and other feds, a new Washington Post report notes.

The piece reports on the Environmental Protection Agency’s move this week to impose a one-sided contract on employees—improperly and illegally, according to the union representing EPA employees.

The Post also reports on a National Park Service cutback on “official time,” the umbrella of laws and rules that guarantee pay for employees for time spent on certain union activities.

The Trump administration, to date, has been largely stopped by federal courts in its many efforts to impose sharper control over federal government labor and labor relations.

These efforts have included three executive orders, and other bids to impose executive power over collective bargaining negotiations and federal unions and their work organizing and representing federal employees.

Let's see, we've got 2 comments: one bashing VA employees and another anti-union, anti-liberal, and anti-democrat. These are excellent examples of how polarized some people have become. Good examples of mass generalizations, hate, and probably jealousy. How sad is it that humans, capable of great accomplishments, cannot rise above such petty behavior?

To last commenters: You guys obviously are lost. Some unions may have become too slack, and some feds do have a great deal. But mostly labor is beat down in this country and its thank god for the unions and their efforts to push back against rich people and their incredible abuse. The real one percenters have gotten so much richer these past 20 years its incredible, while workers have fallen down financially. READ statistics, folks. Not just "comments" or some political agenda. Look at the statistics on wealth distribution and wages. And you will see that as union power has waned, so too have living standards and pay for workers. Union power desperately needed. And in places - like here - unions are hanging on. Good. Again: READ.

So the government is paying for TriCare and VA healthcare personnel. Hiring more VA employees to sit, draw pictures in work area, and play games.

Unions were once very necessary. Today, they've become corrupt political entities similar to the news media. Unions are typically liberal and democrat. They are serious problems in states like Minnesota, Illinois and California. Stop whining and start taking your job more seriously. Feds are among the one percenters that have a great health care system.
