Senior Executives to hold Presidential Awards summit

The Senior Executives Association—representing feds in the Senior Executive Service—will this month hold their annual ceremony dedicated to recognizing exceptional federal leaders.

The event will be held Dec. 13, 2018, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., and will showcase some of the best and innovative federal executives, according to an SEA release, across various categories—ranging from Meritorious Rank Award winners to Distinguished Rank Award winners.

The event will also offer policy panels, training seminars and other for a aimed at advancing public leadership.

“The Summit will feature educational tracks that address the three most pressing areas of concern for Federal career senior leaders, including: Future of Work, Future of Workforce, Future of Workplace,” a release from the association said. “The conference will also recognize the extraordinary public service of senior career professionals by honoring the 2018 Distinguished and Meritorious recipients of the Presidential Rank Awards.”

“The Presidential Rank Award represents the top award a civilian federal employee can receive,” the release said. “[It is] awarded by the President of the United States to the top 1 percent (Distinguished) and 5 percent (Meritorious) of federal employees, as nominated by their respective agencies.”

The average winner of an SEA Presidential Rank Award oversees a budget over approximately $12.8 billion. The group reminds potential attendees that this kind of sum represents “budgets that often compare with those managed by some Fortune 500 companies.”

Perhaps more important, SEA says it estimates that last year’s winners saved the government—and the American taxpayer—approximately $650 billion in “total budgetary cost savings” through their leadership and innovations, as recognized by the organization.

Last year, more than 300 Senior Executives, and over 500 persons overall, attended the event, according to SEA. For more, go to: https://www.regonline.com/registration/Checkin.aspx?EventID=2546143
