Higher travel per diem rates take effect Oct. 1

The General Services Administration has increased the per diem rates for fiscal year 2018, which will go into effect Oct. 1.

The daily per diem rate for official travel within the continental United States including lodging allowance, a meal allowance and an incidental expense allowance will increase to $144 from $142.

It includes $93 for lodging, which accounted for the $2 year-over-year increase, and $51 for meals and incidental expenses.

No new locations were added and 14 were removed.

Used jusdiciously, this is reasonable. Too bad our politicians are never held to this.
