Question: “I am 52 years old with 14 years of federal service plus a 4.5-year military buyback. If I were to quit my job at this point, would I be eligible for a deferred retirement?”
Answer: If you were to leave federal service at this time at age 52 with 18.5 years of service and assuming that you do not withdraw your FERS contributions, then you will be eligible for a deferred FERS retirement starting the month you become age 62.
