NTEU wraps up conference, announces priorities

NTEU members from around the country attended the union’s national legislative conference in Washington, highlighting the event with lobbying visits to congressional offices on Capitol Hill.

The union, in a statement after the event, said that it wanted Congress to commit to supplying “the resources [federal employees] need to fulfill their missions and stop the ongoing threats to their pay, benefits and collective bargaining rights.”

The statement also listed five main goals for the union:

•protecting retirement benefits from attacks

•seeking proper funding for agencies in FY 2017

•pressing for a “fair and meaningful federal pay raise”

•keeping federal health benefits

Lots of luck. Congress and the general public simply do not care. The only friend you have is your fellow federal employee.
