NTEU head appointed to key groups

The leader of the National Treasury Employees Union has been named to two panels affecting federal employees.

President Obama appointed NTEU National President Tony Reardon as a member of both the Federal Salary Council, which monitors federal pay and recommends locality pay areas, and the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations, which is charged with improving labor-management cooperation.

The Federal Salary Council includes three seats for experts in labor relations and pay policy, and six for employee organizations representing large numbers of General Schedule employees. The 17 members of the labor management council include top officials from the Office of Personnel Management, Federal Labor Relations Authority and other federal agencies, and leaders of federal employee groups. NTEU is typically represented on the panels.

“I am pleased to be appointed by the president to these two important groups,” Reardon said in a statement. “The issues of federal pay and having a chance to share thoughts and ideas for improvements in the workplace are important issues for federal workers.”
