Error delays pay for 40,000 feds

More than 40,000 federal employees at 23 agencies were not paid via electronic funds transfer as scheduled last week, the Washington Post reports.

The Interior Business Center — a unit of the Department of the Interior which manages payments for 42 agencies—entered the wrong date for the transfers. The Post reports that the facility is “developing a plan” to prevent such problems in the future.

Payments reportedly will be made by the date they are technically due —Tuesday, Sept. 17.
