Energy Department hacked, employee info compromised

The Energy Department notified employees that a hacker attack compromised the personal information of about 14,000 current and past employees, according to a blog post in The Hill.

In a memo to staff, DOE said personally identifiable information, including names and Social Security numbers, were affected by the attack, which took place in July.

"The Department's Cybersecurity Office, the Office of Health, Safety and Security and the Inspector General's office are working with other federal law enforcement to obtain information concerning the nature of the incident," said the memo cited in the post.
