Is anyone in this forum familiar with the above federal contractor? I guess they are hiring a mass of investigators nationwide (salary and independent) for opm working on background checks for ICE and CBP. I have thought of applying, I just hope they are not run like USIS.

The companies are similiar in many ways. Why the bag tossing at USIS? Have you been employed by USIS? |

Do these background investigator positions require experience in this area? I have seen some with a contractor (CACI) that do.

Well some are contractors, and some are working directly for Keypoint, but the job requirements do say that applicants who have BI experience are taken first.

The big dog in the federal background investigation contract world is USIS. They have the lion's share of the federal background investigations, so they are willing to hire and train people new to the BGI profession. KGS also trains new investigators, just not the numbers that USIS trains.
The standard for "previous experience" is either with USIS, KPS, CACI, or the Feds as an investigator. OPM is pretty strict about who can qualify for an independent contractor and makes the final decision for BGIs on the OPM contract.
The completed SSBI with OPM Investigator extra coverage and two (or more) years experience with federal BIs makes one a prime candidate to be a contractors for any of the companies. Edited by BackGdInvestigator - 17 Jul 2010 at 9:40pm |

Another quick point - the CBP/ICE contract is not the same as the OPM contract - though OPM experience is normally required to be hired for the CBP/ICE contract. |
