The thing is, it would not be your SS that will be reduced, it would be your disability payments or your OWCP payments. The offset comes "off" your other annuity by a percentage of the amount you are receiving from SS. You get the same check from social security regardless.

But I agree about Copperpottie consulting a SS lawyer about this issue. You will sleep better knowing your options in case you have to pay monies back, perhaps with a payment plan.

Dear edalder:

Thanks for the information; however, I don't qualify for Social Security due to lack of paid SS quarters.  I currently have 29 SS quarter; but need 30 as stated in my annual SS letter.  Therefore, I am afraid OWCP will force me into disability retirement (CSR).  If I just retire, I will only get the last highest 3 years of pay.  Well, last three years would be 1985-88.  I don't think CSR will give me annual interest rate from 1988 - present.  I think I have to hope the OWCP pays me.  Would that be based on my doctor's report or dump me and just pay minimum CSR and pay my medical bills only?  Again, thank you for your time and effort with my question and working on this forum.

Big Tex-
If you are not separated from your agency, the time you spent on OWCP counts toward your retirement.  So they will use the salary you would have received if you had worked the last three years.  See page 11 of this:  http://www.opm.gov/retire/pubs/handbook/C102.pdf
