Hey everyone,
Does anyone know specifics about the CIA brainbench testing? How well do you have to do to "pass it"? Is there something like a "cutoff" for wrong answers for the cognitive abilities portion? Do all applicants take it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |

If you look at the Brainbench.com website, they give you a sample report. I assume you have to fit the requirements on what the Agency is looking for. That could be some help in trying to get clues...

They don't give you any feedback on it. Just take it and hope for the best. Honestly, the best thing to do is stop worrying about your application status. Otherwise you are going to drive yourself crazy thinking about all the tests in processing and the BI.

I'm just a little stressed because I was told I'm going to find out sometime this week whether I did well enough on it to get to the interview phase.

Intel jobs are like the military, you hurry up and wait. Your HR rep will tell you to call in two weeks for an update, but not return your call for another 2 after that. You will take a polygraph and be told that everything looks good but then be told 3 weeks later that you need to come in again. Or, you will be told to call back in two weeks, only to get a call 3 hours later. It's all a giant frustrating game. Waits of over a year are not uncommon.

I'm surprised you're getting this much feedback from the CIA. Are you hounding the HR people or something?

ok so I took the brainbench stuff too, here is what would happen, i would answer question 1, then 2, all the way up to question 10, then it would skip back to question 3, give me 5 sec to reanswer this question, then it would skip ahead to question 15, i'd have 3 min to answer that, then skip back to question 8, give me 3 sec to reanswer that. it was very confusing, i asked for feedback from the recruiter but didn't get any. I answered all 30 questions but i had to reanswer the majority of them.
Anybody else have this happen? I had a solid internet connection, so no problems there... |

Yours could have been a slightly different test. Maybe one that tests your short-term memory? I think I've heard of some like that, but I don't know for sure. I would definitely try to get a straight answer from your recruiter about that though. You don't want to have some malfunctioning online test prevent you from getting a job.
How long ago did you take your tests? Was there a writing portion to yours? And have you heard anything regarding the outcome/scores? [This message was edited by alpha on October 27, 2009 at 09:56 AM.] |
