GSA officials received bonuses during spending investigation

Even as the General Services Administration's inspector general investigated lavish and wasteful conference spending by the agency, several GSA officials involved in the probe received cash bonuses.

Even as the General Services Administration's inspector general investigated lavish and wasteful conference spending by the agency, several GSA officials involved in the probe received cash bonuses, the Federal Times reports.

According to the report, Washington, D.C., television station WUSA-TV filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the data, and found that five senior GSA employees each received between $9,100 and $11,690 in bonuses during the conference spending investigation.

Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.) told the Times that lawmakers are looking further into the allocation of the bonuses, adding, "We will not tolerate a culture in which bureaucrats put their own interests before the public interest.”
